The privacy of visitors to this site is of the utmost importance to us.
When you visit this site, our server logs the following information, which is provided by your browser, for statistical purposes only:
- your top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, .uk etc);
- the address of the referring site (for example, the previous site that you visited); and
- your server's IP address (a number which is unique to the machine through which you are connected to the Internet: usually one of your service provider's machines).
- the type of browser and operating system you are using;
In addition, our server logs the following information:
- the date and time of your visit; and
- the address of the pages accessed and the documents downloaded.
All of this information we use only for statistical analysis or systems administration purposes. No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities, except in the unlikely event of an investigation where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant.
With the exception of the online membership application, personal information collected via this site, such as in Feedback Forms, etc, including e-mail addresses, will not be disclosed to any third party unless with your consent or required by law. Where necessary personal details such as name and date of birth may be disclosed to a relevant state authority or agency for the purposes of criminal history checks authorised by law, however before this occurs you will be advised and written consent sought. We do not disclose or sell information to any third party for the purposes of adding to mailing lists.
Note that when you send us an e-mail the content is transferred across the internet and may not be secure. If you have concerns about sending information in this manner then please contact us directly by telephone, fax or mail. Also, when you use our Feedback, Tell a Friend link or Online Application Form your IP Address will be recorded and sent to the Webmaster. This is to help in case of malicious or spam messages and is ignored in all normal cases. It is NOT disclosed to any third party other than an ISP or Police in cases of malicious or spam messages.
Your IP address may also be recorded in a databse if you trigger the Spam and hacker Filter on any of our online forms or web pages. These filters are used to help stop hackers from using our form mail scripts to send spam email to people. When activated the IP address is added to the blocked address list, otherwise the information is disregarded and is not used for any purpose whatsoever. IP addresses that end up in our blacklist may also be notified to the relevant ISP to alert them to possible hacker activity. If you accidently trigger any of our spam or hacker filters then we will remove your IP address from these lists immediately upon being notified of the accidental triggering, and confirmation that you are a real person (i.e. by reply to a verification email).
Cookies & Java
A cookie is an electronic token that is passed to your browser and your browser passes it back to the server whenever a page requests it.
The majority of the public accessible parts of this website are cookie-free. Feedback and Contact Forms, Online Application Forms, and Tell a Friend forms use session cookies in order to provide security verification that the user is human and not an automated robot. These cookies contain no personal or identifiable information and expire once the form has been submitted or, at the very latest when you close your browser.
The Members Area utilises session cookies to track users log-in status and authority level. These cookies identify the users name, username and access level, and expire when the user logs-out, OR, if they do not use the log-out feature, they will expire when the browser is closed, unless the user has selected for the cookie to persist for a specific period, in which case the cookies will expire after the selected period or once the user uses the log-out feature.
This site does not use any form of persistent or permanent cookie and cookies are not used to track pages visited or obtain any form of statistics or identifiable information.
Java-script may be used to provide some non-security related features. If you prefer not to allow Java on your browser some features may not work correctly. These include:
- Download and Link Click Counters - these simply provide an indication of how many time a given link or file has been accessed. The actual links use only standard HTML and will continue to work without the counters.
- Browser detection features to reload the page when resized in some browsers.
The “Monitor page for changes” service provides a free notification by email every time the nominated page is changed. It is a quick and easy way for you to keep up to date on changes to the site, without having to visit every page each day. When you find a page that you want to be kept informed of changes, simply enter your email into the relevant box on the side menu and click "Monitor Changes". A new window will open that will take you through the confirmation process to register. An option is available for you to cancel notifications at any time.
